Overdue Policy

If you have questions about your overdue notice, please call the library at 207-882-7161 0r email wpl@wiscasset.lib.me.us.

The library does not charge late fees. All we ask is for the return of the items in a timely manner. Patrons receiving a late notice are asked to return the items or pay for the items. The computer generated notice resembles a bill. It is not a bill.

Patrons who have items five days overdue will be sent an overdue letter and given the opportunity to return the items. Regretfully, these patrons’ library privileges will be suspended until the items are paid for or returned. Another letter is sent at ten days and at fifteen days overdue.

Items that are three months overdue may have been replaced by the library. If the items have been replaced, the library will no longer accept the item in return. The price of the item must be paid.

Items that are new best-seller high-demand and one month overdue may have been replaced by the library. If the items have been replaced, the library will no longer accept the item in return. The price of the item must be paid.

Patrons who are consistently overdue, may be limited to one to two items at a time and denied interlibrary loans.
